When we first meet classic car dealer Mike Chapman and his business partner Rick Sunderland in Michael Kliebenstein’s original Wheelbase novel, they are about to close a £70 million deal to sell a long-forgotten collection of exotic Italian sports cars.
Now, in Wheelbase II, their work in the fabulously opulent world of top-end collectable cars sees them brokering a deal on a once-in-a-lifetime collection of Mercedes-Benz cars. Mike also takes to the track at Silverstone in a Porsche 917, but the car’s first test after its extensive restoration does not go to plan. Meanwhile, the duo are on the hunt for a fantastically rare, pre-war Grand Prix car.
But alongside all of this Mike and Rick have to deal with organised crime, the police, and the reappearance of an old enemy who threatens more than just their business. Can they use their skills and call in favours from friends to stay alive long enough to complete their latest deal?
